RAI TO AUTOMATE LICENSE PROCESSING
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has selected Ruland Associates, Inc. (RAI) to develop a system to automate processing of utility company license applications for review in anticipation of dramatic increases in applications for construction of new nuclear power plants and renewals for existing power plants in 2007. “We are delighted that NRC has recognized the quality and dependability of our work,” said RAI president and CEO Jim Ruland. “We understand the importance of processing license applications affecting literally billions of dollars of utility company investment in our Nation’s energy future.” Responding to requirements from the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, RAI will conduct a re-engineering of current processes for the NRC's Document Processing Center to automatically store submissions in the Agency Wide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) – then make them available for efficient review and adjudication. The RAI-engineered system will provide a collaborative workspace, secure handling and easy navigation for NRC officials to review Combined Operating License Applications (COLAs), Design Control Documents, Early Site Permits, Topical Reports and other key documents.
